1st Grade Curriculum

It is understood that children will continue to build on the standards achieved in the previous year. Children will continue to use hands on materials to further strengthen their skills in all the areas.

Mathematics

  • Number Sense
  • Numbers up to 100
    • Complete understanding of the numbers up to 100
    • Will be able to figure out less than and greater than and equals to
    • Represent equivalent forms of the same number using snake game and moving on to abstraction
    • Ordinal and cardinal numbers
    • Introduction to Roman numerals
    • Value of coins and different combinations of coins that equal the same value

    • Memorization of the addition facts - using finger charts and moving on to memorization

Students are presented the cosmic view of the Universe. The understanding is developed by using story techniques. The students explore and examine the details of acceptable behavior in society.
