Hello Rainbow Montessori Parents,

I hope your children are enjoying a productive year in school.

The last 3 years have been challenging and we are relieved that the future is looking so much brighter. We managed to make it through the pandemic without increasing our rates, but it’s been 4 years since our last increase and an adjustment is now required. You will find our new rate schedule effective July 1, 2023 available on our website.

Along with the increase we are also adding a weekly option during the summer program that I think many of you will find beneficial.

We strive to provide your children the finest education at a reasonable price and I think you will find that even with this rate increase we are still very competitive in the local market.

Thank you for your continued support.

Dear Parents,

We will be making some changes that will affect both our hours of operation and our days of operation. These changes will be in effect in the coming new year.

Starting January 3, 2023, our hours of operation will be 8:00am to 5:30pm. This half hour reduction will help us maintain proper staffing levels and is in line with other Montessori schools in the area. Our part-time preschool hours will be 8:00am to 11:30am. Kindergarten part-time hours will continue to be from 8:30am to 12:00pm, and academic hours for the K - 5 program will remain 8:30am to 3:30pm.

The late fee policy will be changing to $5 per 5 minutes per child per day. For example, 4 minutes late = $5, 7 minutes late = $10, 15 minutes late = $15. Please make sure to plan accordingly.

Scheduling staff development has long been a problem, as in the past we have tried to juggle maintaining proper coverage and getting teachers to various training sessions, either during lunch/nap time, after hours, or over a weekend. This often results in hurried sessions, that do not reap the benefits that staff development should yield. The school will be closed to students on the following days, allowing us to provide quality staff development, so that teachers can complete required training, learn new skills, and prepare new materials for their classrooms. Most staff development days have been scheduled before/after three-day weekends. These days will be February 17th (President’s Day), May 26th (Memorial Day), September 1st, September 5th (Labor Day), and November 20th (Thanksgiving).

In order to allow teachers the ability to schedule and conduct conferences in a more orderly and effective manner without interfering with the classroom programs, we will be closed for two days, twice a year, in March and November for Parent Teacher Conferences.

In addition to our Winter Break (the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day), Rainbow Montessori will also be closed the first week of July for a Summer Break. These breaks allow Administration to schedule major repairs, remodeling, refurbishments, deep cleanings, painting projects, etc. that are difficult to do with staff or children present. This is also standard with most schools in our area.

Please review the enclosed calendars, one revised for the remainder of this school year, January to August 2023, and for the coming 2023-2024 school year. Starting July 2023, we will be changing our calendar to reflect the academic year starting in July and ending in June, with July and August as our non-academic period.

Wishing you all a happy holiday season and looking forward to a terrific new year!

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your patience and loyalty, as we weather the storm that was 2022. Much like the year before, It’s been a turbulent one, with a lot of changes. Fortunately, this year the changes have been more good than bad, and we have made some very positive steps forward. Our outlook for the new year is an optimistic one, and I foresee a lot more positive change yet to come. As the year draws to a close, there is still a lot to do, and we are currently in flux and attempting to reach normalization going into the new year.

Because of this, it has been decided that attempting to put together holiday/winter programs will be a difficult task this year. With that in mind, there will be no official holiday/winter programs scheduled for any department. We are encouraging our teachers to have in-class holiday activities, and you may be invited to participate. We hope to resume regular programs next year. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
