Important Survey for 2020-2021 Academic Year : July 13
Dear Parents,
We have been working on how to safely reopen in the Fall of 2020 and are considering all possibilities available to us. An overall plan has been developed, keeping in mind updated county regulations. We would really appreciate it if you could take the time to participate in a simple survey posted in your Brightwheel messages to help us in determining the final direction in which the department will head. Please take a moment to respond to the questions by Friday, July 17th, 2020. Thank you!

COVID-19 Update : June 4
Dear Parents,
We are pleased to announce that recent County Health Department changes allow us to open the school to more parents who need daycare, and we will be doing so effective July 1. In the interim, you should be hearing from office personnel and your child’s teacher, so that we can get an idea of how many people will be returning, and if we can accommodate them.
More details to come. Thanks for all your patience in these trying times!

COVID-19 Update : May 27
Dear Parents,
Rainbow Montessori will continue to remain closed through the month of June due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Infants program will remain closed, and no fees will be collected for the month. Toddler and Preschool programs will continue to offer the option of paid distance learning program via Zoom, with a tuition fee of $250 for the month. If you are interested in signing up for this program, please contact Ms. Sandra via e-mail at sandra@rainbow-montessori.com. If you choose to opt out of the distance learning program, your child will remain enrolled but will not be allowed to participate in the services offered during the month.
Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.

COVID-19 Update : April 24
Dear Rainbow Montessori Parents,
I hope you are all doing well during these trying times. We have been doing our best to adjust to the situation and we appreciate your patience with us while we figure things out. Unfortunately, it is now clear to us that we will not be able to open up the campus for the month of May. As a result we will be implementing the following solutions:
The infant program will remain closed and no fees will be collected for the month.
We are proposing a distance-learning program for the preschool and toddler programs that will keep them engaged for 1-2 hours a day during the school week. We are currently doing this in a few of the classrooms for no charge, but for the month of May we are asking for $250 tuition for the month. This will be an optional program and we will send out a survey to all of you to either opt in or out of the program. I would recommend for the preschoolers that are moving to kindergarten in the fall that you consider this option. If you choose to opt out of the distance learning program your child will remain enrolled but they will not be allowed to participate in the services offered during the month. Your responses to the survey will be required by the end of the day Monday the 27th so that we can make the appropriate changes to your billing.
The Elementary and Kindergarten programs will remain in distance learning mode for the month of May at the reduced rate you are currently paying.
We have kept our entire staff on payroll during the shutdown and I would like you all to understand that we are collecting these fees to help pay them for the incredible work they have been doing.
Thank you again for your support and for trusting us with your child’s education.

COVID-19 Update : March 27
Dear Rainbow Montessori Parents,
As you are aware, the county of Santa Clara has extended school closures until the 1st of May, which means that until further notice, our campus will remain closed.
Here is a link to the county’s announcement page if you would like to know the current guidelines: https://www.sccgov.org/sites/phd/DiseaseInformation/novel-coronavirus/Pages/home.aspx
In the light of these extenuating circumstances, when the whole world is experiencing a massive slump, and the entire globe is rethinking its approach to fight the virus, we, at Rainbow Montessori are doing our best to make the right decisions - not only for our parent community but also for the children and the teachers.
In these uncertain times, distance learning is the route schools are opting for, and after having spent the last two non academic weeks brain storming, working around the clock, and smoothing out details for such a program, my awesome Kindergarten Elementary team and your awesome teachers are ready and raring to go.
We will start to operate this program for the Kindergarten and Elementary Department starting April 1st.
Here are a few things to keep in mind for a successful transition :
Hours of operation are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, and academic hours are from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Attendance will be taken at 8:30 am - either at a Zoom session (if one is scheduled at that time) or through an online check in via Google Classroom.
The distance learning program will be the basis to track the progress of the children and to prepare them for moving on to the next grade.
Zoom will be the medium of conducting online classes, providing feedback and doing group corrections if applicable.
Google classroom will be used for uploading assignments, posting resources, sending back corrections, and conducting other daily activities.
Groupings of children for Zoom sessions will be posted by respective teachers.
Resource subjects (Science, Computer, Spanish, and Music for applicable grades) will be following regular classroom schedules and will follow the same teaching platforms.
Details about lesson plans, daily schedules and student groupings will be coming your way soon.
Unfortunately, since this is the only means by which we will be assessing the children and preparing them for the next level, we are not offering a choice of opting into the program or taking a pass.
We appreciate your continued support during this difficult time. Please rest assured that our teachers are hard at work to ensure that they can continue to provide a valuable service to the students despite being away from school.
Teachers are the bulwark of our community, and we hope you will see it that way when you are making difficult financial and life decisions.
We look forward to having everyone back at school as soon as possible. Until then, keep healthy and keep safe.

COVID-19 Update : March 16
Today, the Santa Clara County Health Department issued a “shelter in place” order, which can be found at :
Although the order gives day care centers the option to stay open during this period of time, we have decided to err on the side of caution. Therefore, we will be temporarily ceasing operations and closing Rainbow Montessori, effective Tuesday, 3/17. This closure will likely be in effect through Tuesday, 3/31, and will be re-evaluated at that time. During our closure period, we will continue with our carpet deep cleaning and hard surface cleaning to ensure a safe environment upon our return.
Thank you for your patience,
Rainbow Montessori Administration Staff

A Message Regarding COVID-19
At this time, Rainbow Montessori does not plan to close in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are following guidance from both the County Public Health department and from state licensing, and are continually monitoring both sources for any changes. While open, we will continue to take measures to ensure the health and safety of all children, staff, and parents of our school.
In addition, we will begin a deep cleaning of all carpets on campus starting early next week, possibly this weekend, depending on the availability of our cleaning staff. Please note that if your child is sick, they should stay home. We will continue to conduct health assessments of all children in our care, and will send home any child with symptoms, including but not limited to fever, shortness of breath, excessive coughing and sneezing, and respiratory problems. In addition, teachers and staff with any fever and/or respiratory symptoms are being advised not to come to work. Teachers and staff will self-screen (i.e., check themselves for subjective fever and/or respiratory symptoms such as cough) for symptoms each morning before interacting with students.
In addition, the following precautionary measures are being taken in the K - 6 program:
March 16th - March 27th will be non-academic. Parents who are working from home or who have a support system to fall back on are strongly urged to keep their children home
Spring Break will now be March 23rd to March 27th in order to accommodate for changed schedules
April 13th - April 17th will be an academic period, to make up for any missed curriculum
End of Trimester will be extended to June 26th to make up for missed lessons
SAT’s are being postponed until further notice
Enrollment submission dates will be announced at a future time
This situation will be reevaluated in the case of a confirmed case of COVID-19 being identified at the school.
Sincerely,
Rainbow Montessori Administration Staff
